Homework due for Thurs 14th Feb!
There are several methods of learning new skills. When learning simple skills we tend to use the ’Whole-Part-Whole’ method. When learning complex skills we tend to use the ‘Gradual build up’ method.
1. Explain the method ‘Whole-Part-Whole’ and give an example of its use.
Another way of breaking down skills in order to learn them is PAR.
2. Explain what PAR is.
3. Give an example of when we have used PAR and how it helps us learn and practise skills.

1. The first step of ‘Whole-Part-Whole’ is to try the whole skill or the whole game, then you practise part of that skill or game that you want to get better at, then you try the whole skill or game again.
e.g
activity- swimming
whole- front crawl
part- leg action
whole- front crawl
2. ‘PAR’ is P – preparation – beginning
A – action – middle
R – recovery – end
e.g
activity – hockey
skill – pass
P – line up with the ball, feet apart
A – swing and hit the ball
R – follow through
